So one my biggest design heroes is actually a good friend of mine. He, John Hansen, has finally come around to make a release of his own. Titled “DOXA”, John has created a new breed of athletic apparel that makes even the most lazy couch potato look like a million running bucks. And more than just the looks, supporters of DOXA are part of something greater than themselves and their newfound self-esteem.
You see, with DOXA you are not only buying a new set of running clothes; you actually help provide improved living conditions and future opportunities for young athletic talents in Nairobi, Kenya. Cooperating with the Swedish charity organisation, Global Relations, and the Kenyan top marathon runner, Isaac Macharia (PB 2:07:16 min.), DOXA will donate running wear to young students at The Kenswed Academy in Nairobi. For these youths, the Academy is a ticket out of the slums. Here, they receive free education, while working hard to becoming the next great Kenyan athletes.
Building on John Hansen’s extensive experience in the worlds of both running and fashion, the limited collection consists of the essential running outfit for the spring season: a race singlet, a pair of race shorts and, for chilly days, a half-zip long-sleeved T-shirt. All three products are made from breathable lightweight materials to achieve superb comfort and, at the end of the day, high-end performance. The primarily monochrome universe features a crystallised all-over print to brighten up the color scheme.
